Pastor Matthew E. Walker
God's Calling
Growing up the Carolinas, Matthew Walker is familiar
with the variety and culture of our region. His early years were
spent in South Carolina where he attended high school and studied
classical debate. After high school Matt joined the United States
Marine Corps. He surrendered his life to preach in 1991 while
serving as a supply clerk in 2nd Supply Battalion, 2nd Marine
Division deployed to Southwest Asia as part of Operation Desert
Storm. After the war, Matt attended Bob
Jones University and received a B.A in 1996. Matt has attended
graduate classes at two Christian Colleges.
Experience
Matt has served as a Youth Pastor intern in churches
in Georgia, Indiana, and South Carolina and was the associate
pastor of Calvary Bible Church in Centre Hall, PA. Matt left Pennsylvania
and took a position as University Representative for BJU in the
Midwest. In this position Matt preached in churches, camps, and
Christian schools in Indiana, Iowa, Illinois, Kentucky, Minnesota,
Missouri, and Wisconsin. While working for BJU as a representative,
Matt and his family faithfully attended Colonial Hills Baptist
Church in Indianapolis, IN.
Church Planting
Matt spent 2002 as a church-planting intern at
Fairfax
Baptist Temple in Fairfax, VA. Matt is on the administrative
team for Youth Imperative. He has published music with SoundForth
and is the author of Biblical Music: a pattern and philosophy
which is published by Ambassador-Emerald House Publishers. Matt,
his wife Becky, and their children Aaron and Melanie live in Morrisville,
North Carolina.
